Highland News & Media are passionate about local: local news, local entertainment, local sport, local politics, and, above all, making sure that the local communities we cover trust us to keep them informed, inspired, and entertained.
We’re a business and industry in transition. Some of our news brands have been around for more than two hundred years; you might know the Inverness Courier, or the Northern Scot. Printed newspapers are still important to us and some of our readers, but we recognise that the future for our business is digital. That’s where we are putting all of our energy and effort.
We’ve made a great start in our digital transition. Each month our websites generate millions of page views. Tens of thousands have become registered users, and thousands have signed up to be digital subscribers.
This gives us confidence that we’re on the right track, but we have an ambition to accelerate progress and ensure that our news brands continue to be our readers' first choice for trusted local news.
Trust is at the heart of everything we do and we take pride in being a provider of trusted news and information to the communities we serve whilst recognising diversity of opinion and celebrating freedom of speech.
We stand up for and shine a light on our communities and all of their diversity; championing and celebrating everything good. We also highlight injustice and wrong, so improvements can be made and justice delivered.
We are committed to doing the right thing - even when no one is looking. Acting with integrity and professionalism is our baseline.
We are not afraid to do things differently to ensure our activities provide the greatest benefit to the business and to the communities and customers we serve.
Great communication starts with listening. We recognise that listening to colleagues, readers and customers drives positive changes to the business.
