The awards are open to any individuals, businesses or other organisations either based in or operating within the Highlands and Islands.
For the purpose of these awards, the Highlands and Islands is defined by the area covered by Highlands and Islands Enterprise, which stretches from Argyll and the Islands in the south to Shetland in the north, and from the Outer Hebrides in the west to Moray in the east. http://www.hie.co.uk/assets/maps/loader.aspx?map=regional
It is possible for one project or business to be entered into more than one category (for example, an estate or farm which has developed a food and drink business could enter in both the Rural Taste and Rural Covid Resilience award categories.)
Even where the category name includes 'Business' in the title, we will accept entries which are not-for-profit enterprises, charitable or use other structures.
Entries should be no more than 750 words in total, excluding any appendices or additional evidence to support the nomination which are limited to a max of 2 x A4 word docs/PDF or PPP.
Sorry this form is no longer available.
Our panel of judges are selected from businesses and organisations involved in the Highlands and Islands' rural economy and represent a cross-section of the community. The judges will consider every entry in every category, then meet in conference to discuss their relative merits and create the final shortlist. Where there is a tie in terms of the shortlist or winners, the decision of the head judge shall be final.
