Framlingham College

Founded in 1864 as Suffolk’s memorial to Queen Victoria’s husband, Prince Albert, Framlingham College is located two hours from London and overlooks the 12th Century Framlingham Castle. It’s location and strong sense of belonging creates a special atmosphere of aspiration and freedom, a place where all pupils are provided with space to try new things, grow confidence and unearth talents. With their ambitious learning culture, academic prowess, individualised ethos, award winning pastoral care, entrepreneurial spirit and variety of co-curricular opportunities, every pupil at Framlingham develops the knowledge and skills they need to achieve beyond what they thought possible and thrive as global citizens. Framlingham’s extensive minibus network ensures that their rural setting has a global reach, with express services to Cambridge, Norwich, Colchester, London Liverpool Street, Stansted and Gatwick to support pupils with commuting, airport transfers, trips and sports fixtures. Across 85-acres of manicured sports fields, pupils can play rugby, cricket, hockey, netball, tennis, practise golf, swimming, archery and shooting. Their future-ready curriculum features a unique Year 7-9 curriculum, alongside GCSEs, BTECs, and A-Levels, offering specialised subjects in Art History, Photography, Textiles, Economics, Politics, and Computer Science. Their unique Extended Learning Programme develops essential micro-skills, and with over 100 co-curricular activities, pupils can feel assured as they venture into adult life; from learning first aid with the MedSoc club, enhancing public speaking and debating skills with the politics society, understanding global issues with MUN club, addressing climate change with their sustainability committee, or knowing how to re-attach a button to their school blazer with the sewing club. Now in its 125th year, the Framlingham College Combined Cadet Force is just as popular today and still plays a vital role in the life and traditions of the school, allowing pupils to develop key life skills in leadership, teamwork, resilience and respect. Across both Army and RAF squadrons, the CCF provides exciting outdoor education and first-class military experience days including flying, shooting competitions, field days, and acts of remembrance. The belief that everyone has the potential to be a leader is ignited through an exceptional Year 13 leadership programme - from being a wellbeing ambassador, school prefect, subject ambassador, or head of house, pupils have a voice on real world topics and a responsibility to bring effective, lasting change at Framlingham. The College’s dedicated partnerships with top Universities continue to thrive with the school calendar abundant with guest speakers and industry experts; from Biology Week with the University of Oxford, psychology workshops with University College London, to inspirational sports lectures with Team GB Olympians, which provides a diverse plethora of life knowledge and undergraduate taster lectures to the Sixth Form cohort. Alongside career aptitude testing, CV workshops and interview practice, their in- house Oxbridge Co-ordinator and UCAS advisors support all Sixth Form pupils when creating a route map for their individual journeys beyond Framlingham. Framlingham College supports every pupils’ pathway to their adult world and ensures that they leave with the knowledge, confidence and empowerment to reach their full potential.
