Founded in 1541 by Henry VIII, Christ College Brecon is a co-educational independent day and boarding school for pupils aged 4 to 18. Located in the beautiful and peaceful surroundings of Bannau Brycheiniog, we are a school with a friendly, welcoming atmosphere and outstanding pastoral care. We’re proud of our strong academic results, but we also focus on helping pupils develop a wide range of life skills. Our balanced curriculum gives pupils the chance to explore their interests while working toward GCSEs, A Levels, or BTECs. In 2025, 41% of pupils achieved A*- A grades at A Level, with a 98% pass rate across all subjects. 91% of our pupils secured a place at their first-choice university. Life at school goes well beyond the classroom. Pupils take part in an award winning co-curricular activities – from sports to music, drama to outdoor adventure – helping them grow in confidence, learn to work as part of a team, and find what they truly love. We place a big emphasis on belonging, as feeling connected is key to wellbeing and success. Our boarding community is warm and supportive, a true home-from-home for our flexi, weekly and full boarders. Pupils have the space and freedom to explore new opportunities, discover their passions, and celebrate their achievements. Our goal is to prepare our pupils for life beyond school – giving them the confidence, resilience, and kindness to thrive in whatever path they choose. We want our pupils to leave with a strong sense of self-belief, ready to face the future with a ‘can-do’ attitude and a strong moral compass.
